Arlene Crary moved from Madison, Wisconsin to Seattle, Washington in 1943 with her two young daughters on a troop train because her husband was working in the shipyards there. Soon after arriving her husband got his draft papers and left for service. She found a job at Boeing Aircraft and a babysitter for her two girls. At Boeing she worked on B-17s and B-29s.
